Composite: Foam Damping Sheet

Composite: Foam Damping Sheet

Foam Damping Sheet (FDS) is a composite material that combines a viscoelastic damping sheet (GPDS, General Purpose Damping Sheet) with a flexible polyester urethane acoustical foam. It is available in sheet form and standard foam thickness. It can be supplied with pressure sensitive adhesive backing.

GPDS absorbs vibration energy generated by the summation of modal responses in metallic and non-metallic thin gauge panels. When applied to either side of a stiff vibrating surface such as metal, plastic, or wood, it will increase structural damping and effectively reduce structural modal responses.

The acoustical foam is an acoustic quality, open cell, flexible polyester based polyurethane foam. It is based on unique urethane foam formulation to provide a uniform cell structure, high physical properties, excellent sound absorption, good heat, humidity, flame, and chemical resistance.
