GPDS
GPDS (General Purpose Damping Sheet) is a flexible extensional viscoelastic copolymer damping material that reduces noise problems generated from impact sources, panel resonance and coincidence in metal and non-metallic thin gauge panels. It reduces structure-borne and vibration by transferring mechanical vibrations in the base plate into the damping layer and converting it to friction.
GPDS is formulated for maximum damping efficiency and provides high damping factors to a wide range of vibrating modes. GPDS is formulated for maximum free-layer damping efficiency over a broad frequency range, at room temperature (22°C or 72°F) with useful damping over 3°C to 50°C (40°F to 120°F). It is offered in various standard thicknesses, and with a standard pressure sensitive adhesive backing with removable release liner, and in sheets or custom die cut parts.
GPDS is conformable with heat and pressure to many complex surfaces or parts. It is resistant to certain aqueous solutions, oils, greases and common industrial fluids.
